Hi, I am a newbie with a question. I loaded my 12 inch Powerbook with all my music and then loaded my iPod. My beautiful bride then managed to erase my PB. Is there anyway to transfer from my ipod back to the PB?

Yup! Make sure you haven't got your iPod on automatic updating, or it will remove the songs from iPod, and you'll have to rip them all over again.

There are many freeware utilities out there, (search for ipod transfer mac at versiontracker.com), that can do the job for you.

If you want to do it yourself, and you can navigate UNIX, you can open the Terminal and type:

    cd /Volumes/My_iPod_Name/iPod_Control/Music/

    ls

you should see folders named F00 through to Fxx where xx is some number.

    Type:

    cd F00

    cp * ~/Desktop/

etc. That's the long way, but don't do it unless you're confident with knowing what you're doing in UNIX.

My advice: try versiontracker.com for a utility. m.
