Robert Palmer is dead.

Personally, I've enjoyed the recent raft of celebrity deaths, seems to even things out somehow.

Cash, Ritter, Palmer...

yet Alan Alda lives... Is there no justice?

Alan Alda rules. And so does Don Knotts.

But yeah, seems like baby boomers are dropping like flies. And not in freak accidents, but of maladies.

Correction, Alan Alda ruled then he turned into a sensitive care worn caricature of Hawkeye. Actor as caricature of role, or, in Alda's case, as the evolution of what his character might have become, ick... utterly dickless, especially that sensitive male crap he does at every opportunity.

Don Knotts is a comedic genius. He will be remembered generations from now.

Alan Alda is a hack who knows some people.

The difference is night and day.

Robert Palmer will be sorely missed as an artist and a human being.

george plimpton died and oddly enough alan alda's big break came playing george plimpton in the movie "Paper Lion" a story about when plimpton actually suited up and played quarterback for the detroit lions (albeit preseason) in the 60's. all i remember of the movie was alda threw like a girl. but plimpton probably did to.

my rule for alda his movies with woody were good although woody always casts him as a schlemiel. as for mash if mclean stevenson is in it i'll watch, it got pathetic in the end.

    (edit = i misspelled threw as through.....sigh...)

schlemiel is a dolt, schlimazel is unlucky.

    hmmm.....

actually he's always kind of unctuous in woody's movies,

maybe he's an unctuous schlemiel, or schlimazel if you like.

MOD EDIT: I edited the thread title to make it a bit more descriptive and locked the duplicate thread.

    Just so you know.

before he had a mess o' hits, palmer made a great record called "sneakin sally through the alley" which was my introduction to not only palmer's great voice, but to little feat as well. his album "pressure drop" is great too.

they are in iTMS, check them out, they are much funkier than the sound he became famous for.

also power station is a great guilty pleasure of mine as well.
