    i noticed that the displays rotate 90 degrees - would be able to display a vertical 11"x17" project nicely at full size when rotated like that if I'm reading it correctly.

    I don't think OS X supports that. Or something like that. In other words, that pivot thing isn't available to X users. I know I read that somewhere, maybe even at their site.

    Certain video cards support pivoting on the Mac (for instance, the retail Radeon 9800 Pro). ATI's marketing name for this ability is Versavision. I've been told that some nVidia cards support this feature as well, but I don't know which ones or what they call it.



    EDIT: I should add that I don't know if any of these cards will automatically detect the rotation of the monitor, so if you change orientations often, you might want to make a script or something.
