VPN (client) software?
has anyone got any recommendations for OS X VPN client software?
i have a new client and i need to connect to their VPN. fine and dandy, but i need an OS X client, and i know nothing about VPN's!
i'm told they use windows 'Check Point VPN-1 Clients', but the mac client is os 9 only.
anyone any suggestions/hints/tips?

The Cisco VPN Client provides support for Windows 98, ME, NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Linux (Intel), Solaris (UltraSparc 32- and 64-bit), and Mac OS X 10.1 and 10.2 (Jaguar).

Whoever's in charge of the VPN should be able to get the client. Also try www.checkpoint.com
so its going to have to be windows client under virtual PC (which i have just been sent)
This says that the base station is compatable... for multiple clients through it...
might not be there yet but we are getting warmer!
Edit:
If you load "Applications/Internet Connect" there is a "Use VPN" button that the apple KB says uses PPTP, the Windows 2000 standard VPN protocol...
Not sure if this helps, as it sounds like they want an IPSec compatable client... I am gonna keep looking tho, as I will be needing to VPN to a windows network soon.
According to Apple's Panther web page:
Works Well with Windows
Panther connects to more corporate networks in Internet Connect, including those using RSA?s SecureID, so you may not need a separate VPN client.
I hope by some miracle that this will do the trick.

Othello - I'm in the same boat. Been that way for a year now. My company only supports Checkpoint VPN with a SecureID (that 6-digit number thingy that changes every minute). I've been dragging a Dell laptop home to login in to work just so I access the coporate mail client, Lotus Notes.

Ahh, welcome to the corporate world. I want to use Apple 100% of the time but no luck. One client uses the Cisco VPN which Cisco has produced an excellent OS X client. One uses Windows' built-in VPN which of course does not work on OS X. Grrr. Well, even on the PC latop, the VPN only works 25% of the time anways.
i will be doing a lot of the work i need to do (design and build of a corporate intranet) locally first, so perhaps by the time i come to need to connect panther might be out (and work!)
