i need to make some Apple scripts, but i have no idea how to use the program. i'd like to use it to luanch an app., create some folders, then launch a second app. and encode some files.

however, when i try to record my actions, it doesn't record anything for the apps. that i'm using. (although it does record for major apps).

any idea?

Short answer is that not all applications are scriptable.

You need a good Applescript book so you can fill in the blanks with typed code. I know there are good websites too but I prefer a book when beginning a language. O'Reilly makes a decent one: AppleScript in a Nutshell

    (Also available on O'Reilly's

Safari Bookshelf, which has thousands of online tech books. Generally excellent although I find their html layout to be confining.)

You need a better base of understanding so you can start asking questions that will actually yield more useful replies.

yeah, i have 0 understanding of Applescript, and hate programming languages. i want it to make fodlers, run some options, then wait for input from me. maybe i'll hunt around on the web, see if someone hasn't already written a script like this.

I know some stuff about AS, but I believe that the apps (DVDBackup and DVD2oneX) are not scriptable. Remember, the app has to support it.

I can help you to get started. Drop me an e-mail
