Will My Superdrive do DVD-R/RW And +R/RW?

According to th system profiler, my iMac's Super Drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D, which I believe is capable of writing both DVD-R/RW and +R/RW. Are both modes available on the iMac, or has Apple disabled the +R/RW support? And apart from compatability with other devices, does it make any difference i I can't use the +R/RW?
