Hey everyone,

i am having a monitor problem. I have the 17" studio display (the one with the clear back). Last week, I noticed my screen seemed to be offset/blurry around text, windows and the cursor. Has anyone heard of this before or know how to fix it? Thanks. Please e-mail me at joshuamunk@yahoo.com

Take a look at the monitors control panel and in the Geometry window, click on convergence. If the lines don't meet end to end, drag them around until they do. That sounds like it is the most likely solution to your problem.

My problem with the same monitor is that it bows up. There isn't a correction for that geometric problem. There is one going horizontally, but not vertically.

i tried that and it didn't work. Someone posted a similar problem on Apple's website and they said that Apple said it would cost $450 to fix. I also saw someone said that the cords go bad on this model. I don't know what to do about this problem.

how convient, i had the same problem for a couple of weeks, and today, my monitor will not come on at all. I can power up the mac with, bring up the properties for it (via the analog in to another monitor) degauss it, but can not make it work at all. 2 months out of warranty, and if the repairs are $450, out of luck. I am not happy.

From everything that I have read, this has happened to a lot of people. I am hoping my monitor lasts me a little while longer while I get funds together. I am not happy at all. I am 5 months out of warrenty. Does anyone know of a good monitor to get? Thanks.

Bummer about the repair. $450 was almost as much as it cost in the first place. Better to get an LCD for that price.

For quality replacement monitors that won't put "Microsoft Security Problem"-sized holes in your pocketbook, I would suggest looking for a VGA 17" Apple monitor (one of the Blue & Ice or Graphite & Ice models) on eBay. I just got one in perfect condition for $200 after $50 shipping ($150 + shipping). Great deal on a quality monitor. And it looks great with the system too, because the case styles hadn't changed from the original G4s to my DP 500 style.

    Again, bummer on the monitor.
