Will games run better with Panther?

Do you guys think games will run smoother with Panther, than with 10.2?

Does anyone here have Panther beta and have tested games on 10.3 vs. 10.2?

Thanks!

WCIII runs like butter on 10.3 and this was on 7b44. Better than 10.2. There's a thread over on the macnn.com forums in the games section that talks about people's experiences with games on 10.3.

7b76 or whatever was the first build I used of panther (maybe it was 74) and it broke GhostRecon, then with 7b85 on my new PowerBook it ran beautifully. Then again I did move up in computer hardware.

Since quartz got a speed boost, I would think that games should run better because of it.

Slightly better, yes, because of new compiler optimizations and (possibly) improved OpenGL.

Moving to Mac OS X and merging with the duplicate thread you made...

I just saw this on macnn:

    "from macbidollue

"Panther makes us wonder every day a bit more. "le_mackeux" on our forums posted the results he reached with BenchUT2003 under X.2.6 and X.3. He uses a G4 Quicksilver 933 with a Radeon 9000 and 1.5 Go RAM. Tests were done under 1280*1024 resolution with demo flyby-citadel

    Under X.2.6:

    Score 37.00

    Min FPS 11.42

    Average FPS 36.94

    max 121.27

    Under X.3:

    Score 55.95

    Min FPS 17.4

    Average FPS 57.026

    max 192.117

Score improves by more than 30% ! One would end frustrated by all the time wasted since X version 0 !"
