Mac DTP Software?

OK, my parent's PC is going a bit wobbly, so I'm trying to persuade them to look at getting a Mac. A Mac will come with software that will do pretty much everything they need (email, web, photo's etc.), but my dad would need some sort of DTP program, as he produces a newsletter for his local model engineering club. He currently uses MS Publisher, as it came with the PC as part of MS Office, and he prefers using this rather than Word, as he can do newsletter type things more easily than in Word. So is there anything available for Mac's that would do the job? Apart from Quark and InDesign of course, after all, they're pensioners now .
