How do I go back to 10.2.7 from 10.2.8?

I'm having some serious problems now that I installed the latest OS update. Safari is severely slow and lags for 30 seconds to a minute with beachball notices! I am using wacom tablet but I did not have this probs with 10.2.7. I am often force quitting Safari and relaunch it to get rid of the lagging probs which often times doesn't work. I am, then, forced to restart the computer. I rarely used to restart my computer.

I know that Panther will be released in a couple of weeks but I still would like to revert back to 10.2.7. Is ther any way to do that without having to rebuild the hard drive 10.2.0?

Insert the system CD that came with machine, click the Install OS X icon, follow the propmpts. At the install window click the "Customize" button. Then select the "Archive" and under it the Preserve settings then do the install.

    Hey Fantasic D. Man,

Thanks for your input. The only thing is that the only CD I have is the Jag CD, which means that even if I do an Archive install, that means that I have to go through 10.2.0 to 10.2.7 in each incremental update steps.

My question is, is there a way to revert back to 10.2.7 (such as a un-install of 10.28 update)?

    Thanks All!

well 10.2.7 only came with the G5s... so you should have a 10.2.7 disc somewhere...

if you want to go back to 10.2.6 on the other hand I would give the application mactracker a look

it has links to all the os x software updates and could point you in the right direction for the 10.2.6 combo update...

also did you install the 2nd revision of the 10.2.8 update? maybe youshould try that first...

    Paul,

I made a mistake in my inquiry. I have a 450 Cube and my last update before the 10.2.8 was 10.2.6. I assumed that I had 10.2.7 since that was the progression number sequence. So, is there an actual 10.2.6 that I can revert back to without starting from scratch?

    You can't revert back.

What the pervious posters are saying, is do an Archive and Install (save settings, etc.) from booting off the Jag 10.2 CD, when finished, that will leave you at 10.2.0. Then go a download the COMBO 10.2.6 update, which includes all the other updates (10.2.1, 10.2.2 ..., etc) inside that one update. Then you will be back to where you were at 10.2.6 without any data, pref. loss.

Why can't you revert back? Wouldn't the 10.2.6 Combo update do the trick? I will try this if it is not going to harm anything. Audio skips like hell on 10.2.8 (second version) and other weirdness is cropping up.
