The price for Panther I would rather put to a new laptop. Does anyone know if we can just get the new Safari, which I love.

???

Why not just wait until October 24th when Panther will be in the laptop standard?

I may not get a new laptop right away, and really depend on Safari.

That does not make any sense... If you are not going to get it right away, then next month Panther is already going to be pre installed. Yes, you can download Safari but if you are not getting your laptop before the 24th of October then Panther will be preinstalled... If you do get it before the 24th, you can get Panther for $20

what he is saying is that rather then spending $129 on panther he wants to put that $ toward a new laptop...

he isn't necessarily getting one anytime soon, but he just earmarked $129 towards it...

what he wants is safari 1.1 as I'm sure he already has 1.0

It would surprise me if Apple didn't make 1.1 available for 10.2 as well, but no one knows yet..

I have a hunch that they might not, since it's pretty much just like a new release of Mail, Address Book, etc.

If they give you the Panther-specific updates, they're technically giving you Panther. Even though I'd sure like it...

Thank you Macusers for -trying- to sort that out, although I have my doubts that it's over and done with....

    Thanks Paul, right on !

I gather that the new Safari (with Panther) will not be available without Panther, although I hope jwill is right.

    I appreciate all your help ! !

...except that those are bundled apps and have never been available as separate downloads.

I will be surprised if Safari 1.0 is the last version available for Jaguar.
