Hello,

I was just wondering if there was a way to install an ASP module for the apache web server that comes with OS X? If so, how do I do it?

(I prefer PHP, but I'm in a class that is using ASP, and I don't want to have to do all of my work on a windows machine.)

Thanks

Maybe I posted this in the wrong forum? I suppose it could have been in Software or Genius Bar. If that is the case, I hope a mod will move this for me.

With regards to my question... I would be satisfied with a simple "no" if that is the answer, but this lack of replies leaves me wondering.

Anyway, to clarify things a bit, I want the ability to run .asp webpages that contain VBScript on Mac OS X. If anybody can help me out, it would be awesome.

I did search on Google and I found a few things that talked about such a thing existing, but I couldn't find any downloads or instructions on how to do it.

    Thanks

This is what you're looking for:

Sun ONE Active Server Pages 4.0 (formerly ChiliSoft

but it isn't free. I've never used it but I hear that you can't do everything in it that you could do with real ASP. Sorry but it is your only option besides VPC or getting a real PC \

The answer appears to be "yes and no". "Yes" if you got money to spend, or you're willing to use Perl as your script code "No" if you don't like those two options. Here are some links:

Here is the free module for Perl

Taken from the FAQ of the above module:

    VBScript or JScript supported?

Yes, but not with this Perl module. For ASP with other scripting languages besides Perl, you will need to go with a commercial vendor in the UNIX world. Sun and Stryon have such solutions. Of course on Windows NT and Windows 2000, you get VBScript for free with IIS.

Sun ONE Active Server Pages (formerly Sun Chili!Soft ASP) Instant ASP from Stryon (formerly Halcyon Software)

Ok, that looks about like what I was finding.

I guess I'll just have to use the XP machine.

    Thanks for the info.
