Programs... and requirements

Have you noticed in the past few years that many new games and and applications have not needed much more processing "power." That is, their "megahertz" requirement has not been exceedingly increasing? Such as Warcraft III, it uses 400mhz min 600 recommended. Games seem to be hovering at about the same requirements. Homeworld 2 by sierra that just came out has a extremely updated system, and still only uses 500 mhz, but graphics card wise needs 64 mb ddr video card. Interesting, isn't it?

Where games are concerned, there is a move that you already allude to: the processor is offloaded in favor of a dedicated GPU (graphics processing unit). The same move, btw, that is used extensively in OS X to make for some of the eye candy we've become used to.
