Syncing iPod and iTunes libraries

I have a 15gb iPod and I like to have manual control over its library, but I have been adding some music lately and haven't updated the iPod library and now I'm not sure what differs between the two libraries and if I switch my option back to automatically update it deletes everything and readds all the music instead of just looking for differences. So I'm wondering if there is a way to compare both libraries and look for differences and just have my iPod update these differences? I have too many songs to do it manually.

    That would make a nice applescript. Unfortunately, I don't know if it exists.
