Where did we get to on music sharing

Now that we have iTunes 4.1, and we can have it on our work peecees, this old topic comes up.

Last night, I was playing around on my wireless network at home, and was so excited to see an automatic link to the shared music on my Mac on a PC. I know this is not news for many of you, and I always knew it was possible, but I never realised how easy it is. . . .

So, has anyone got an easy way around the sharing music between two computers in different locations - as in, not sharing the same sub-net?

I think the only way is rather tricky. It involves tricking the computer that the other ip address is on the subnet...

I know there's software out there somewhere that's supposed to facilitate it, but it doesn't look easy.

It sets up a rendevouz address linking to a remote computer which has been port-forwarded to the local network.

To be honest, it's too much hassle for the end result. Better to keep copies of music files locally, and if you are getting music from friends/family, get them to iChat you new files.

Is there a limit on the number of computers than can be simultaneously connected to one iTunes library?

I can't seem to get more the 5 computers connected to any one library.
