I am looking to get a PowerBook G4 15" Combo drive 1.0 ghz. Should I get the Apple Care plan? Is it worth the $250? What exactly does the plan give you? I can afford it, but don't want to blow the $250 if I don't have to. Thanks a lot.

Yes, get the plan! Especially if you have a notebook computer from Apple. It will cover your repairs for three years (that includes the first year warranty) with no cost to you. That is, unless there was no problem, then Apple may charge you for shipping the notebook back and forth.

In all honesty, a few years back, Apple computers were well made, but nowadays, it seems they do break, and AppleCare has become a necessity.

What Jim said. If you plan on keeping it more than a year, expect to need to send it in at some point.

In fact, here is an article about the "slipping" quality of 'Book computers from Apple:

Mind you, I still love the "whole widget" Apple puts together with hardware and software, but they are a corporation that is currently succumbing to what appears to be cost savings. And you don't want to get stuck with a computer after a year that will be worthless unless you pay over $500 in repair costs.
