Whenever I try and share my music across our network here, my iTunes crashes. First I get that dreaded rainbow pinwheel, then it "unexpectedly quits" The only thing I can think of is, since I have 3842 songs it is too much for it to process for my humble iMac DVSE 500, 256 ram, running OS 10.2.8

any ideas? I poked around apple's support pages, but couldn't find anything, also it seems as though the support pages are "dumbing down" to cater to windows users, but what do I know. at any rate it's Reallyannoying, and I really don't want to have to reinstall iTunes.

any suggestions? ideas? I already fragged the old prefs because it used to crash on startup when I first upgraded.

well, so far the only plus side of the upgrade is that it loads A LOT faster, one bounce and almost instantaneously open, but this crashing is not acceptable.

Eh...I doubt the amount of songs that you have will affect the ability of iTunes to share with other users. However, I could be wrong. Someone with more knowledge of this could help you out more.

By the way, if you turn off bouncing in your dock, programs will load a lot faster.

I hope you have repaired disk permissions. iTunes 4.1 installer has screwed them up on both Macs I ran it on.

I hadn't repaired the disk permissions, but I just did, and it still doesn't work when I turn sharing on...that is I get a beach-ball and then after about a minute it crashes, it actually is lasting longer before crashing now, but it still crashes.

    any other suggestions?

I am able to share some of my smaller playlists but when I try and share my whole library( 3842 songs) I get beachballed and crash.

Might there be a problem with one of these songs (aka corrupt file). Currently I'm sharing 10k+ songs with no problems.

Never thought of that, sheesh I hope not, that would be a pain to find corrupted files, is there a quicker way to do this?
