iSight not working in iMac's firewire ports?

For some reason, my brother's iSight doesn't work in his iMac's (flatpanel) firewire ports [both of them].

I know that the iSight works because it works on my powerbook. And I know that his firewire ports work because the iPod can sync on both ports.

It's not recognized in the System Profiler when it's plugged in. I've tried opening EvoCam just to make sure, and nothing shows.

I'm stumped? Has anyone encountered such a problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

This may be a silly question, do you have iChatAV installed?

Have you checked Apple System Profiler to check if *anything* pops up under firewire when you install it? Also what other FW devices are you useing? Also have you applied all the latest updates? Also did the camera come with a software cd? What about computer firmwares?

Here's what you do. Quit iChat AV. Unplug your camera. Restart it. Go to your video preferences. It should say "No camera installed." Then, plug in the camera. It should be recognized by then.

System profiler = it says no firewire devices installed.

No other firewire devices are installed, other than the iSight.

    Restarting/Shutdown, everything doesn't work.

    It has 10.2.8 installed.

No CDs with iSight, it's suppose to be "plug & play" ......

well, in my case it's not on to the "play" part yet

    any other ideas?

apple support forums aren't a big help either.

Have you tried hocking iSight back to your PowerBook again to see if it still works? I'm thinking the firewire cable might not be properly attached to iSight.

Call Apple. It is a new product it should have some support.

If you are near an Apple store you can carry in your hardware and they will try to make it work or tell you what the problem is.

    The problem is ...

I know for sure it's the iMac, because I have 3 iSights, and all of them work properly on all other macs, but ALL three of them DON'T work on the iMac

errrr.... I'll give apple a ring for sure, but I think they're going to be swamped with calls from Panther owners for the next week
