Network Settings

I've just started at uni and brought my iMac and iBook. My iBook was setup to access the network by one of the computer guys but I left the iMac assuming it would be easy to copy the settings. Well, inspite of setting the network settings in System Preferences to the same on the iMac as the iBook, I can't get it to work. What can ou suggest, or is there an easy way of copying ALL network settings from one system to the other?
