Got mine yesterday as well. We have a nurse's office in my building and they were doing them for free. Took less than a minute, didn't feel a thing and no flu symptoms today (the first time I got a flu shot I had minor symptoms the day after).

This is the fifth year I've had a flu shot. I reckon it's the best thing since Ibuprofen.

that has nothing to do with getting the flu. you just got a flu that the shot didn't cover, your bad luck. wash your hand more and you won't get the flu

i'm immune suppresed and i don't get the flu. actaully i never got the flu when i wasn't. i will be getting the flu shot next week, although i normally like to get in november, as my doctors reccommend, but that is when my next appt. is

Well, I'm not a senior citizen yet, so I won't be getting one. Never figured out why young people would bother.

Can't remember the last time I ever had the flu. The only friend or family member I can think of that has had the flu in the last 5 years is my friend that gets a shot every year. He's had it a few times in that period.

Ha! I just learned this yesterday too. I was eating lunch with one of the MDs. What he said was this. The experts go to China. The look at what flu is dominating in what regions and then take a guess at what will be dominate that winter across the world. They then make a vaccine based on that.

Many of us know that they take a guess at what flu will dominate each year but I had no idea that they based it on trends in China.

Because I work in a hospital I get the shot. The MD I was talking to feels we "owe" it to the patients to get the shot. Many of them are immune suppressed too. We don't need to make them sicker. It was free too.

Besides one year I got slammed and will take any edge I can get.

    Myth #2:

    Flu shots cause the flu.

    Wrong.

The licensed injectable flu vaccine used in the United States, which is made from inactivated or killed flu viruses, cannot cause the flu and does not cause flu illness. _
