Error at Shutdown

Recently, when I started my computer in verbose mode, on shutdown this message appeared about 30 times.

Code:

bootstrap_look_up() failed (ipc/send) invalid destination port

It doesn't cause any problems but it waits about a minute before saying "Continuing?" and finally shutting down. This did not happen in the past and is rather annoying. Does anyone know what it means or how to fix it?

Any ideas would be great.

This is a bug in OS X that appears to have been there since back in the NeXT days.

On various mailing lists people refer to this as beeing the most common failure seen by end users, but no one seems to know what exactly is causing it. It can happen almost any time you are running anything significant on an OS X machine. At the simplest possible level it means that something in the system was trying to send a message to something else in the system and failed and is going to try again. For the most part it can be ignored, or so I'm told.
