Apple Care or ibook G4?

I have a ibook G3 800, and the logicboard has gone bad twice since January 2003. My AC adaptor was also replaced once because it quit working. My Question: Should I purchase applecare before my warranty expires or just save up and by a G4 ibook? I am a CS student (as noted by my Screen Name ) and don't really know if I need a G4's power for coding/compiling. I know it helps with some of the iapps and stuff, but don't know if it helps Codewarrior and other IDE type apps. I am also thinking of buying applecare and holding out until the G5 powerbooks come out in a year or two, since then I will be in my junior year of college at I assume the coding homework will get more complex and demand more processing power. Is there any veteran apple codemonkeys that can help me with my decision, I am really confuse about what to do.

Thanks in advance

I don't have an opinion on buying AppleCare vs. an iBook... but you need a shorter screen name that doesn't mess up the column formatting of the forum pages so much.

    How about CompSciGa instead?

Whatever you do, don't be without applecare. I'd get the ibook repaired and then sell it. Use the money from the sale and the money you'd pay for applecare towards a new notebook. That way you're only out a couple hundred $$ and you have a new computer.

BTW, I'm in Athens, GA too. I wonder if I've seen you out with your iBook. I'm always at Blue Sky working on my powerbook. Go Apple in Athens!
