Panther/iDisk/Backup problem

Before installing Panther I did the prudent thing and used Backup (v 2.0) to, um, back up everything. I put a whole bunch of stuff, including my entire music library, into a backup package on my iPod.

Now I can't seem to get it back. When I launch Backup it tries to connect to my iDisk and can't. In fact, iDisk has seemed a little shaky when I try to access its System Preferences pane, so I'm thinking this isn't just a Backup issue.

Anybody know what's going on? My whole music library is at stake!

don't delete anything on your Ipod, have you tried deleting backup and resintalling it? or at least its preferences? maybe so for the idisk too?

Here's some more info: I can access my iDisk through the Finder (I just downloaded a file off it as a test), but can't get any info at all on it through system preferences. When I first click on it in Sys Prefs, it says it's trying to get information on my iDisk, but it just keeps going and going. Then if I cancel and try again, the iDisk stuff will show up, but it will have nothing listed under how much is used or what its total capacity is.

So it seems to be an iDisk problem... or at least a problem with other applications accessing the iDisk server. That makes me feel a little better, but not much.

And don't worry, I'm not deleting anything for awhile.

Another FYI: iDisk utility can't seem to access anything, either.

Backup (2.0 beta) is working fine for me if I do a manual backup to my iDisk. However, my scheduled backup at 2am is failing. I wake up in the morning to an error dialog telling me I need to sign up for a .Mac account (which I obviously already have, in good standing).

I was having the same problem with Backup yesterday, but now it seems to be working. However, there's another problem. Apparently, if you're using FileVault, Backup won't let you add folders from your Home directory to the back up list. Only the preset items are allowed. Anyone know a way around this?

Apple seems to have fixed the iDisk access problem (which effected more than Backup) but now I have another problem. When I try to restore my backup package, I get an error message for every single file. Nothing will copy over, including my music. Help!

I'm starting a separate thread in the Software forum on this issue.
