Furthermore, How can the price of that iMac 867 be justified with an expensive LCD and a superdrive.

I would say the parts alone would be about $1000+ total and how can apple keep such a profit margin?

Aint gona happen. I could see it without the superdrive, maybe.

    The Superdrive will be optional.

Plus he earlier asked himself a question and then answered it. He probably meant to ask the question under a different ID but messed it up. Funny. I have some beautiful property in Arizona with a wonderful view of the ocean if anyone is interested.

What I want to know, is why would Apple buy out Motorola's Semiconductor division AND arrainge to have IBM do Altivec PPC fabrication?

One or the other, but why both....too suspicious!

As a hardware company, it wouldn't be out of the question for Apple to make their own chips, but it would be much smarter to buy IBM chips, at which point, there is no reason to buy a semiconductor division.

Now if they had a specific QT chip that gave major acceleration to Apple only media software.....I could see Apple wanting more mobo control.

You may want to re read my post. I said I have heard two things of which Apple might do.

I asked myself a question on purpose, sarcasm anyone?

    Just asking a quick question:

Why is, that when someone like Mastergating or Dorsal posts something everyone has to chime in with reasons why they don't believe the post? Are you just thinking aloud? Or are you just stoopid and like to waste bandwidth?

If you believe it, believe it. If you don't, don't. Just don't post your sherlock holmes crap about "how can I believe him if he answered his own question"...

    chill.

The fact that you claim to be " very, very accurate" infers that you are accurate at guessing.

Had you thought your information was correct, you would have said that it was "correct".

Either way I think that your Mhz breakdown is accurate, but you are guessing as to price and features (i.e. Superdrive inclusion.)

If you consider all the posts on The Register plus the fact that they put dates on G5 production that coincide with the annoucement of the 'early keynote'... mmmh I'm beginning to believe ! On january 7, we will see iMac G4 AND PowerMac G5 AND one more thing... to 'sneeze' Bill in CES !

But I think also that for the iBook, we'll see improvment only at MWTK. Sahara for the iBook and Apollo for the Ti.

There is too much evidence all around the place... see the last on Amiga web site.

Why is it that everytime someone mentions an inconsistancy that others must "waste bandwidth" telling them not to?

We're just voicing our oppinions in a discussion. Perhaps he is right, it's just that due to the inconsistancies I tend to believe he making it up. Perhaps he's not & just a confused person ... either way, lighten up, just pointing out things that others may find of interest.

Like I said, either way, I hope he's right (I just find it unlikely that he's an insider).

Mastergateing: Here's some question for you to ask your Phil "Level" source.

1.Does the new Power Mac/iMac have built in airport?

    2.Gigawire (perhaps already asked?).

3.Does the PM have a second 5.25" drive bay?

4.Is the AGP port still 4x or is it 8x in the PM

5.What video card is in the new PM/iMac? Nvida 2mx? Geforce 3 Ti? ATI card?

On both the PowerMacs & iMacs? I guess that'd make sense with the whole UMA idea. If this is the case will have an open AGP slot on the PM's?

Just found this on Appleinsider (old news)

[quote] Though it is unconfirmed by sources who can be considered reliable, its been said that the new line of iMacs are being designed with some of the same ideals as the company's new Power Book G4. One of the highly rumored features is said to be a wide-screen display, ideal for home video editing in iMovie.

Aside from the rumored wide-screen, sources say the iMac will acquired a 133MHz bus, sport processors with speeds of 533 and 633MHz, and finally pack a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX graphics processor for superior gaming performance.

    There ya go

Just keeping you very gullible people informed so you don't commit mass suicide when January 7th rolls around. You really think that someone that doesn't know how to edit posts and says things like "I am very, very correct" would have such high-level inside information? Sure its possible but it is extremely unlikely yet some people take it as gospel.

Hmm... anyone remember an article released about 1 year ago title something like "Steve Jobs will wow the MacWorld crowd with a 17" iMac"?

I doubt their iMac predictions are close to what will be released.

    I think it's more

gossip then it is gospel. But the way I look at it is unless someone has the evidence to dis-prove a post or the poster it's just as legit as the 'it won't happen because..' type posts.

There's no evidence one way or the other but I believe mslee's point was to offer up a real post with reasonings why/why not and not just a 'you suck, it wont happen' post if you disagree with someone.
