I have two monitors running and would like to tell X where to display stuff, rather than having it always use my extra monitor that I have sitting on my left (my "main" screen, from my perception, is the one with the dock and positioned right in front of me).

It does now. It didn't used to.

Okay, if you insist on making me ask: How? It don't see an option in the Preferences nor anyway of passing an argument (i.e. command line argument -multiscreen).
I thought you were just asking if you could move windows between monitors. I don't know how to get them to start up where you want them.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Admittedly, I only 3/4 know what I'm talking about

One of my problems right now (mentioned in the Software forum) is that everytime I start up X now, it opens windows on my "other" monitor (I'm running multi-monitor from my PB). Now I could always drag windows from one monitor or the next, but my xterm window would always open on my main monitor. Anyway, one of the more knowledgeable UNIX guys at my shop mentioned that with multiscreen support (traditionally passed as a command line arg) I could specify the exact screen I wanted windows popping up on (preferably on my main screen right in front of me).

I know what you're talking about, but I've never tried to figure out how to do it. (I saw your post in that other X11 thread after I posted here.)
