Do any of you experience this problem? I would be typing and suddenly the pointer goes out of whack and clicks over somewhere else. And I dont even really touch the track pad. It's just random. Is this a defect? I even enabled the "ignore track pad" when typing option. Whats up with that? Should I return this?

I've seen the same thing happen when I've tried out various latops, I think it's a quirk of having your hand over the trackpage when you're typing.

If I remember correctly, trackpads are electrostatic, and it's possible to trigger them sometimes without actually making contact. I also remember seeing an HP laptop recently that actually had a button by the trackpad to turn it off when you were typing.

Did you try checking "ignore accidental trackpad input" in the keyboard and mouse preferences?

My 15" did this after I enabled the pad for "clicking". I think it is taking slight touches as clicks, and hence moving the cursor to the current position.

I have turned "trackpad clicking" off, and the problem has gone away. I dont really mind losing this functionality, unless some clever little programmer wants to make the pad area a left-click and the button a right-click.
