Apple Places Order For 800,000 CRT iMacs For This Year
Here's an excerpt from the article:
Hon Hai Precision Industries was also in the bidding to produce the new iMac, but its loss of that order would not stop it from producing monitors for the older iMacs, for which it previously held a contract, it said.
Reports put last year's shipments of those monitors at one million, with a further 800,000 to come this year.

<img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> Isn´t that a bit pessimistic from Apple? Only 200.000 fewer CRT iMacs than last year. Of course the new iMac will generate more sales but I think it take a lot more sales from the old than a mere 20%.
Perhaps they want buy large/cheap and fill up their warehouse with CRTs to put in iMac Classic the next couple of years?
I wonder- how many LCDs did they order? A million? What was it, a hundred thou a month? They need as many LCDs as potential new iMacs as possible.
