IE displaying chinese characters?
For some reason IE has flipped out on me. When I go to a specific site the page is not displaying correctly (it's for customers of a particular vendor, but since the page in question is open for all here it is).
I don't have this problem on other web sites (e.g. www.apple.com), and I used to be able to go to this site all the time. Admittedly, I can't remember if it started this problem before or after Panther, but I can't see how that would impact it.
I can get to this site using either Safari or Firebird, but those are no-go once I get into the site as there appears to be some funky Javascript going on that only IE seems to be able to render correctly (hence why I still have to use IE
)
Any ideas?
Oh yeah, I thought to check my preferences and all i see listed for languages is "English".

Hmm. Try switching off Java in the explorer pref function.
See what happens...it's only a hunch.

Yep, what you see is what I should be seeing via Internet Explorer (and I used to be able to see, but now I just Chinese character, maybe it's garbage, because I just noticed that intermixed with the characters are various random symbols...)
Anyway, I was just trying to rule out a Panther/Internet Explorer problem. If you used that combo and saw the login screen, then obviously that isn't the issue. I'll try switching users (didn't think about that before) and see if I can get to the page via another user...

Perhaps you might need to re-install Explorer from scratch.
Could be some sort of corruption going on in your present copy.

I just don't get wtf is going on...

Was this IE's prefs under one of the drop-down menu's. I think it is the view menu where you can select language to display.
Reason why I ask is that I noticed that the site also caters for Chinese as well, and with my limited knowledge of cookies, I was thinking maybe a cookie is telling the site to display in Chinese.
Only a guess...

Sorry, don't know what you're talking about. Btw, that site isn't mine, it belongs to the vendor whose software my company uses.
Anyway, I know this will be a huge request, but for someone who successfully saw the login page when clicking that link I provided (and you did so in Panther using Internet Explorer), would you mind listing your Internet Explorer settings as shown in Preferences. You can e-mail it to me if you rather not post (original_fuzzball@yahoo.com).
I know this is a lot to ask as it is tedious, but if anyone has time that would be great. While I can access this site using IE via VPC, I hate to do it that way since I don't always have VPC running, plus using IE via VPC is dogsh!@ slow...
I just wish I could get this resolved...
If you haven't already,
click on Explorer prefs & scroll down to the " Page & Link " section.
Have a look at your settings for
"style sheet" & "active content"
It wouldn't hurt to try various settings just to see what happens.
You might accidently stumble across an answer.
Best of Luck.
