Superdrive: buggered. Installation: possible?
Here?s the thing: PowerBook with a damaged superdrive, Panther waiting to be installed. What to do?
In full: the CD drive on my lovely flat-mate?s PowerBook has been buggered since 10.1.2 and yet she has a copy of Panther unknown to the pleasures of The Slot.
Clearly it must be installed.
Is it really impossible to install an update using an external drive? I?m thinking of my own machine. Surely there?s a? you know, a really neat-o installer-confusing bit of terminal action or something to do? Can I put my machine in target mode and...? Or am I missing something obvious?
