This came as a laugh to me...

Liberals want tax cuts and conservatives don't

Quote:

Mr Schroeder hopes that tax cuts, which are at the heart of his reforms and have helped drive expansion in the US, will also crank up the stagnant German economy.

Quote:

But conservatives fear that the tax cut will force the government to run up too much new debt and are calling for a fundamental rethink.

So the politics in Germany on the issue of tax cuts to ramp up the economy is a 180 of the politics on the same matter in the US. Incredible. Amazing. Crazy.

I guess conservative and liberal mean different things across the pond.

This drives home my point that too many put party over principle. How many examples of partisan nonsense do some of you need before you will become enlightened to the reality that it is foolish and void of integrity to put party over principle?

Well, it isn't that strange of a move for conservatives not to want tax cuts...this is because conservatives are supposed to be FISCALLY conservative...for some reason in the US they are wacky spenders while the liberals seem more fiscally conservative right now. This of course, a generalization: I'm pretty sure McCain and his type are fiscally conservative...the Bush camp, on the other hand, spends like they can just mint money to fill the deficit gap. It is totally backwards, though in line with the point i've made about working class Americans (US of Americans) being conservatives, when everywhere else they are the liberals.

And fellows, have you became more moderate since you first joined the forums? It seems last summer I remember you toting all things ultra-conservative. I'm not meaning to offend, just wondering

I have been doing a lot of changing of my political views over the last year. I am not offended one bit. The only part where I consider myself conservative is that I believe supply side economics works. While that being said I also believe the government needs to take greater action to put those who abuse their position in the corporate realm behind bars and throw away the key. We need accountability in business and in the government. I am upset with President Bush as he misled the American people about reasons for going to war in Iraq. I believe he should have been direct and honest with the American people. He has lost any future votes from myself. As for the democrats I am worried they have a poor set running to choose from.
