how does the superdrive compare?

i was wondering how much time the superdrive took to burn different things. does anyone know how long for a 90 min DVD in iDVD? thanks.

    hmm...i was under the impression that it took twice the running length, so a 90 minute disc would take 3 hours. can anyone confirm this?

    idvd burns at twice the length of the dvd

    idvd2 burns at the same length as the dvd

    I thought the Superdrive burned at 2X.



    MPEG 2 encoding aside that means it should take 30 minutes to burn a normal 60minute DVD at least compression no?

    iThink</strong><hr></blockquote>On the original 733 Mhz machine iDVD encoded (not burned - two different things) at twice the length of the video. Jobs called it 2X, but it really should be called 1/2x. On my dual 800 it encodes at roughly the same length of time as the video.



    The SuperDrive itself burns DVDs at 2X.



    The difference between iDVD and iDVD 2 you're probably think about is lengthening the video from 60 minutes to 90 possible.

    So that means that a 60 minute video should take:



    120 minutes to encode (1/2x)



    30 minutes to burn it to DVD (2x)



    for a total of 150 minutes of "actual time" to do it?



    But, you're saying that it only takes 60 minutes to encode 60 minutes of video on your dual 800, BRussel?



    Is that 2x that Steve talked about (really 1/2x though) just for a certain machine that was out at that time, and it depends on the machine used?



    Like a 500 MHz G4 does it at 1/2x and a dual 800 does it in closer to real time (1 for 1)?
