speech keeps going away

i start up speech recognition and if i havnt used it in like 5 min it disapperas, is theree a way to stop this.

    Some components of the system can be set to sleep if they aren't in use for a few minutes in order to save memory and put less strain on the processor, make sure your preferences are set so that it doesn't sleep, not sure how to do this though as I don't use speech recognition.
