Beachballs that is!

Everytime I open up Address Book, the beachball cursor appears. And it doesn't go away. Ever.

How do I get rid of it? Do I dump the app's preferences file or something? If so where would I find it? Can I dump the contacts cards themselves?

Oh and I running Panther on a G5 that's less than a day old (if that helps).

Thanks!

Heres what you do, send me the G5 and I'll be happy to work it out for you.

Seriously though, try dumping your caches. You can find them in ~/library/caches. Where ~ is the name of your HD. Dump EVERYTHING in the folder, but not the actual folder itself. May clear up your problem. Good luck.

Not sure how many of these things you have tried.

    Discard preferences for Address Book

Log out and log back in.

    Check permissions using Disk Utility

    Restart.

    Restart and reset PRAM

Restart and use fsck to check the disk.

    Reinstall OS X

Go to manual over-ride. Fire the explosive bolts.

Thanks guys. I've tried all your suggestions (apart from a clean install), but I haven't had much luck.

Would you happen to know where the address cards themselves are kept?

    Cheers!

    In here:

    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

and the app's prefs are here:

    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist

Trash those two or move them somewhere else and see if that helps.
