15" AL, guts question

Can someone tell me what that is? (a little sub, maybe)

Some other pictures if you want to see 15" AL guts.

Man, it's hard to put that keyboard-palmrest assembly back in it's place.

Another funny discovery, after that operation, my 15" was exhibiting 'wobbling' :-), but i just bent it a little bit (yes, brute force, applied to $3000 laptop), and it's perfect :-)

whew! good stuff, I've often wondered about the insides of these things. Thanks for the pictures.

Might that be the mid-range booster that the alu 12" has?

maybe they added it to the 15"?

Is that the 5400RPM, 80GB Hitachi HD?

The item you are referring to looks like a speaker to me.

Was it difficult to open the case and close it again? I'm wondering as I have the same machine. Perhaps a year from now I might want to switch to a faster HD.

Arg, I spilled over top of my HD! Good LORD! Think when I send it into them to fix my screen I should ask them to look at my trackpad and say it's acting up for seemingly no reason?

i was swapping stock 4200 rpm 80GB HD, for 60 GB 7200 RPM one.

This picture was taken before i removed stock drive, so it's 80 GB IBM/Hitachi.

It's not hard to open it, as long as you label all the screws properly, the trick is to put it back... :-)

Top case is a bit tricky, as there are tiny metal hooks, pain in the a** :-)
