idea: AOL ++ FREE CD = iTunes

To get more people to download iTunes songs

Why not have a deal with AOL to include iTunes 4.0 in their demo disc (FREE 1045 Hour CDs)*Have both a Mac and Windows Version

Maybe include 10 songs (30 sec. clip)

and or-

A coupon for a free download

I just honestly think alot more people would try iTunes if no downloading had to be made*(for software that is)

Isn't the iTunes music store already linked or built-in to AOL now? Something was announced last expo.... thing-a-ma-jig..............

edit: I really wish AOL would stop sending out the cds. It's a huge waste... How many hundreds of years is it going to take for the millions of trashed junk cds to decompose?

I went to a CompUAS one night about a year ago with some friends, they had just stocked up on the AOL cd's. We asked if we could have more than one and the kid working told us that we could take as many as we could fit in our pockets. We were all wearing coats and stuff like that so our grand total came out to be about 850 AOL CDs that we than proceeded to tape to all the walls of my friend's bedroom. Needless to say, he has the coolest bedroom ever. And about 400 leftover AOL CDs too.

That being said, I hate AOL and wish they would stop spreading their crappy ISP and their crappy CDs.

Instead of putting iTunes with AOL CDs, which most people loathe, they could just have standalone iTunes CDs. People could get 'em in any store that carries iPods.

Yeah......no, what's the point? It's a free download to begin with. I don't think Apple needs to get into the habit of providing more trash for the public when they can just go online and download it.

I don't think Apple would stoop to the level of mailing CD's to every address in the U.S. If they are just availible free, at every CompUSA, etc., I think its just fine.

If you don't have broadband, you really don't need iTunes....

I would let AOL include an installer on their own CD, even incorporate it into their software so it shares a look and feel. It's free advertisement if nothing else.

and the plastic ones are cool too! what do you think their yearly budget is for packaging and distributing those things, it's got to be enormous.
