Custom Icons on Symlinks

So I have run into a wierd issue on OS 10.3



I have two symlinks on my desktop, both of which keep the custom icon of the folders they link to most of the time, but if I add or remove an item from the desktop then they revert to a generic folder icon. A simple click will reset the custom icon, but this is getting very annoying.



Alias's do not exhibit the same behaviour. Add something to the desktop and they stay exactly the same, with the custom icon. Only symlinks seem to have this issue. Any thoughts? I had the same setup in Jaguar and it worked 100%.



I archived & installed Panther, and have since deleted and remade the symlinks a couple of times. I am now using OS 10.3.1 (but the issue started with 10.3.0).



Any insight anyone can offer would be very appreciated.

    Have no idea what's going on there but they stay the same if you create them inside your home folder, well for me anyway.

    Thanks for the suggestion, but the symlinks on my desktop point to items in my home folder. I probably should have mentioned that.



    Any other thoughts?
