scene it, or trivial pursuit dvd?
I have seen two new board game/dvd games that are trivia based. Scene it is all movies, plays clips of movies, and you have to guess what scene it is etc. Trivial Pursuit is the samy way, but with music, and other pop culture things. I am interested in either one, I was wondering if anybody had any comments on either.

i've played both and although scene it is nicer from a production point of view, the game play is somewhat of a let down. it's can be entertaining the first couple of times you play it, but will quickly become old news. trivial pursuit, on the other hand, is quite a bit more challenging over all and will probably have more game value. the DVD portion of the game is weaker than that of scene it, but over all it's a fairly solid all-around game.
the idea of leveraging DVD technology to enhance board game play is a natural fit, however, problems with licensing all the assets necessary is going to be problematic and very expensive. until they can solve these issues, most people are going to be somewhat disappointed due to lack of real audiovisual content that you would expect to be there. where you're going to see this type of game shine is from licensing of brands like starwars, for example, where full access to all material would be made available to the game developer as part of the license.
funny you should mention these games, because our firm has been working with one of these companys to develop and design future dvd games. we've completed one demo and are working on another for them to take to 2 potential big name brands to license their names. either one of these would be huge, and quite possibly instant hits.

It seems awkward and time-consuming. Give me regular Trivial Pursuit.
as they stand now, your right, but that doesn't mean it always has to be that way. i think the potential that the technology has to offer is very cool.
