EyeTV. It uses a usb port but be warned the image isn't as sharp as a PCI card. it's ok for casual viewing though. Formac do a digital capturing device as well that i believe runs via firewire and has one that is capable of viewing tv.

I know I read something, now if it was a wish or a real product is another thing, but it was a tower that connected via FireWire to provide more PCI slots. Does this exist and can anyone place a link if it does?

I was hoping to grab televio and install it with that So a dream or a possible reality?

You can get a PCI bridge to connect more PCI cards slots. Last time I looked they were $1k but that was while ago.

I thought PCI bridges were cards you stuck in a PCI slot to give you more PCI slots...or change the angle. Oh well I guess I'll look.

Man this stinks, I should have just got a G5 \

I was thinking about having my parents buy the Formac recorder for Christmas? Is it any good? What is the difference between the Studio dv and the Studio TRV? Kinda the only solution for an FP iMac since there are no PCI slots.

I believe the difference is the F cable in. What I'm interested in is if Televio software works with it.

I have an old USB video capture thingy I would part with. It's from Eskape Labs, you should check out their site. I have the My Capture version I, but they have a version II now (same hardware, different case.) Anyway, they have a number of products and the video quality is good.

    Try here:

    www.eskapelabs.com

    www.shipitforyou.com/eskapelabs/

The My Capture is good for straight video capture.

The My Capture captures in MJPEG, which is better than MPEG crap. It's fully editable full frame capture rather than the mushed up MPEG.

Yea that's what it is. It's a box of empty PCI slots with a PCI card hanging out. You plug it in to yours and it bridges the PCI bus over.
