How do you output AAC (without decoding) ?

I think my HT receiver can decode AAC, i would like to try it out, but how do i do that?



Anyone knows? Can i just burn the CD? Is there a cd/dvd player that will output AAC?



Can i do it right from my mac? How?



And why isn't there optical out on powerbook, huh apple?

    Just burn a data, or Mp3 cd and see if it plays. I'm not sure if AAC will even burn onto an Mp3 cd, but it's worth a try. As for the optical out...that is a relatively new thing for computers, it may be on future revisions of the G4 PB, but I would be surprised to see a G5 PB without it.

    I doubt any receiver can decode AAC.



    What would be the point anyway?

    I think my receiver can do it, as there's AAC on the display, also new Sony ES receivers, european models can do it for sure.



    The point being, instead of using your computer to decode AAC, then feed your receiver analog signal, it would be great if you could either burn it on DVD, as AAC, then dvd feeds your receiver digital signal, and receiver does the decoding, you won't need your comp.

    Or if you have a G5, output AAC in digital form through toslink to your receiver.



    Or even better, how cool would it be to have digital out on an iPod.

    Can QT decode multi-channel AAC ?



    i guess we'll have to wait...

    Dolby Labs had a big hand in the technology after all... I'd be very surprised if AAC stream decoding isn't in any A/V receiver or pre-amp...
