I saw ina previous thread many saying how much RAM they would put in their new iMacs, for 512MB to 1GB. While I realise RAM is cheap, what kind of performance benefit would you see from such a massive addition?
i don't know if this answers your question but I just ordered my iMac with 256mb of memory. I'll order another 512mb from crucial.com later but I want to experience it 'slow' first so that I can better appreciate the speed increase (if any).
I ordered mine from MacMall, so it came with an extra 256 for a total of 512. I am not afraid to upgrade it to 1GB myself, all I need is a tech manual.

But what kind of performance leap do u expect going from 512MB to 1GB?
