Java 1.4.2 in Apple Developer Downloads
I found the Java 1.4.2 update being tested in the Apple Developer site. I installed it, and it seems pretty solid. 1.4.2 is the latest Java from Sun Microsystems. There is an accompanying file on the Developer site which looks flaky to me:
Java 1.4.2 DP1 Developer Package
Developer package to accompany Java 1.4.2 DP1 for Mac OS X v10.3. Contains new headers, docs, demos, and tools.
The files are marked 1.4.1 and in the install the disk on which I installed 1.4.2 is not highlighted with the green arrow. I asked Apple about it and they are looking at it.
The 1.4.2 update shows in Terminal as:
java version "1.4.2_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_01-107)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-001-31, mixed mode)
