Strange error messages after replacing hard drive

Thanks to everyone for their advice concerning the replacement of my iMac DV's hard drive. I swapped out the standard 10 Gig for a new Western Digital 80 Gig, and maxed out the RAM. (I'm running O/S 9.2.2, in case anyone is wondering.)

Anyway, I'm very happy, except for a few nagging problems:

1. I used my iPod as an external hard drive with which to back up my iMac hard drive. No problems there, except now, every time I boot up, the system asks me to connect my iPod. I click cancel, and nothing more ever happens, but how do I get rid of that error message?

2. My Toast software now won't recognize my external CD burner. If I put a CD in, the O/S will bring it up on the desktop, but Toast won't see anything. I did have some trouble with extensions earlier when I removed all traces of the Palm O/S from my computer (it said it couldn't open the Serial Port Monitor without a Palm file that I couldn't seem to find, even on my backed up hard drive.)

3. How important is the Serial Port Monitor to the operation of the system? Is that a Palm-specific file or one that relates to the O/S? I haven't removed it or anything stupid like that. Just wondering if that is related to my CD burner problem.

Thanks in advance for all your advice... you guys are great.

Make sure you are setup to boot from the internal HD, not your iPod. It probably thinks that the iPod is still your boot drive. Boot from your 9.2 CD and make sure your HD is selected as the boot volume.

After that, UPGRADE TO OS X!!! You won't regret it for a second.

As for your CD burner...thats a good question. If it worked before it should work now. Don't know what to tell you about that.
