Is the g4 processor and the better video card in the Ti worth the extra 200 bucks and loss of cdrw of the ibook 14.1. Do you think their will be a huge difference in performance in normal use and velocity engine appz.

I think the Ti is better because of the Radeon alone. Also, the Ti is better looking than the 14" iBook.

After seeing the difference of Mac OS X on a G4 compared to by B & W G3, I would buy the Ti. The G4 alone is well worth the extra $200 which speeds up Mac OS X significantly.

Is it really that much of a boost?

When I went over to my Campus Store to check out some PowerMac G4's I could not believe the difference. Scrolling was like scrolling in OS 9. Window resizing in the finder was really fast, just a tad off from actually moving at the sametime as the window; even IE window resizing was extremely fast. I could not believe it. Even when you load Apple.com, the quicktime movie of the iMac does not slow the system down that much as it does with my B&W. Also, when you move a window at full screen, such as an IE window, it moves right with the cursor. In conclusion, my B&W machine handles window reszing quite well I must add, but the window resizing in IE is just terrible. In addition, scrolling on my machine is smooth, but not as smooth as the G4 at the Campus store.

By the way, the Campus Store was demoing a Quicksilver PowerMac running at 733 Mhz.

Personally, I'd have the PowerBook because of:

? The 16Mb Radeon Graphics card

    ? Extended desktop (dual screens)

    ? G4 Processor

    ? 15.2" screen (extra 128 pixel width!)

    ? Less weight
