emac's and microwaves--please help!
i just moved my emac in my dorm room, and it is now a couple feet from the microwave... the problem is that when the microwave is on, my monitor shakes like crazy. is it power consumption, the waves, or the vibrations? and is this harmful to my computer? i'm all for bigger dorm rooms

<no expert> Microwaves are completely stopped by the metal outer casing of the appliance and the metal grille in the window of the door. Microwaves are not escaping and frazzling your screen. I'd say it was power drain/fluctuation. Can you use a surge protector? </no expert>
The microwave uses 700 watts (small nuker) to 1500 watts (large nuker). The microwave uses lots of current and your wiring in your house is having a hard time keeping up with the demand. You can solve this by 1) using larger wires to supply power to your equipment or 2) separating the microwave and computer from a common power source and using a separate circuit beaker for each.
A second theory would be the microwave is introducing interference in your power lines. You could try using a surge suppressor or lifting the ground from your monitor. Lifting ground: Plug a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter onto the end of the power cable of the monitor. I wouldn't do this to the microwave because of safety things.
3rd theroy. Your microwave is leaking. Stand in front of it and find out.
Hope this helps.
EDIT: Good job SonOfSylvanus. You beat me.
