panther and scsi support?
[i've had a search and can't seem to find anything on this...]
i'm just about to aquire an old umax clone with a G4 card for nothing, and thought i could make good use of it. i want to install panther on it and also put in an extra (bigger) hard disc.
but the hard discs are (internal) scsi i believe, so will this work?

IIRC, MacOS X does not boot from SCSI. However, MacOS X does support SCSI peripherals. You might look into XpostFacto for possible support of SCSI booting.

Not so. I've booted from a SCSI drive with 10.0 PB through 10.3 on my dual 500.
XpostFacto will be needed to install on that old Mac anyway, though.
The unsupported machines that work now are the 7300, 7500, 7600, 8500, 8600, 9500 and 9600, as well the clones that were based on one of these systems (the Umax S900 and J700, and many of the Power Computing models).
