I want to connect a USB printer to a network. I know it can be done with the Airport extreme base station thorugh its USB port. But is there any solution/device that will allow me to do the same without me having to get a airport station?

it should be noted that in order to actually print, the computer which the printer is directly USB-connected to, will have to be on (with USB printer sharing on). it might seem obvious, but many people forget this part.

Thanks. But USB printing is our problem right now. We have USB shred printing right now but we want to place the HP oversized multifunction hell away from our computers.

    Any suggestions?

Many routers have built-in USB ports for sharing printers, especially wireless routers. Check out specific models from the usual router suspects (D-Link, Linksys, NetGear, etc). They'll be much cheaper than an ABS. You might also look into whether you can buy the HP JetDirect ethernet module as an aftermarket add-on.

This thread might help, too. Google is your friend.

If you have an HP printer you can get an ethernet adapter which plugs the USB in one slot and then an RJ45 cable from the other to the network.

I f you have a multi port router it will give the printer its own IP so you can access it via any computer on any platform. Dont know about other makes so i hope this helps.
