who makes the video cards?

With ATI finally letting 3rd party companies create their own video cards based on ATI chipsets, and nVidia doing the same since always, this would let Apple make its own custom cards, or have a 3rd party make them to their specs.



Is this the case? It would make sense and keep costs down.



BTW, why is there no ATI 8500 nor GeForce 4 Pro option for the cards at the Apple store? Can we still flash off the shelf pc GeForce 4 cards for Mac?

    I'm pretty sure apple ha been assembling their own nVidia cards since day one. And now that ATi is selling the GPUs without cards as well it would only be logical to assume that apple was assembling these cards themselves as well.



    I haven't seen a dual radeon 7500 anywhere else, but then again i haven't looked very hard.
