Hard Drives & Media on Desktop
Yeah, I know this is nitpicky, but I just installed Panther and I'm peeved that external Hard Drives now are grouped under removable media. I liked it in 10.2 when you could hide internal AND external drives while still showing CDs, DVDs, and Disk Images.
Now, you can only either hide your internal drive, or your removable media (including external drives).
The Desktop is (IMO) for temporary stuff. My External HD and internal HD are permanent, while CDs, DVDs, and Disk Images are not.
Pfff. Anyone know a way around this?

The way I use it is permanent expansion space... and It's never disconnected.
Anyway, I've found a workaround. I used the SetFile tool that comes with the DevTools to make both my hard drives invisible. Now they don't show up on the desktop, but miraculously still appear in the finder sidebar. It's pretty sweet.

uh ... and external HD, by it's very nature, IS REMOVEABLE ... isn't it ???
He's got you there, why don't you just get a second internal HD?
Seriously, it isn't on an SATA bus, by any chance, is it? That's a hot swappable bus, so it may classify it as removable due to that.

My second internal drive is included when toggling "CDs, DVDs, and iPods". Explain THAT. It's hardly "removable media".
Interesting, on my system (Panther of course) both my internal drives are recognized as "Hard disks". So why is that yours is recognized as "CDs, DVDs, and iPods". Explain that?
