Where to get apple DVD player?

I just bought and installed a pioneer dvr-a06u dvd/cd player and recorder in my sawtooth. I already had 10.3 loaded.



My question is, where do you download the apple dvd player? Since I didn't have a dvd player when I installed panther, the player did not load.

    Have you checked the Panther installation disks? That's my best guess.

    There's an application called "Pacifist" that lets you search around in package installers (like the one on the Panther CD) for particular things you want. You can probably get the DVD player from there.



    Incidentally, I was in a similar situation yesterday. I installed Panther but I had an internal CD-RW and an external DVD-ROM, so it didn't install DVD Player. A friend of mine shot the application over to me through iChat, and I expect you can do the same. If you want to look for me on iChat, my screen name is astromanluca. I'll send it over - it's 10 MB which shouldn't take long if you're on broadband.

    I'm going to try Pacifist. Thanks for the tip. (And thanks also for offering to send it to me via iChat. I'd use it but I don't know how yet.)

    And in case anybody is wondering about how the pioneer DVR-A06U (superdrive) works in my sawtooth G4 450 with Radeon 8000 mac edition and 10.3, here it is...



    It booted off the OS X cd.

    I can watch DVD's

    It reads music cd's.

    I was able to drag a text file onto the CD icon on the desktop and it copied it to the CD.

    Haven't tried making a DVD or a music CD yet.



    One other note: I picked up the pioneer superdrive today at bestbuy for 169.00 with a $30.00 rebate making the total cost $139.00.
