Hey everyone, I seem to be having a pretty large problem here. Whenever I plug my 3rd generation iPod into the firewire port on the back of my 15in Powebook (1ghz), as soon as the iPod is recognized and the icon appears on the desktop, the computer freezes. The screen scrolls to a darker shade, and the message that tells you to hold onto the power button to restart appears in all the different languages. Anyone have any ideas? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Thats called a Kernal Panic. Start with the usual suspects. Zap the PRAM, run a FSCK, repair permissions. You can find all that info in the FAQ thread. If none of those work you may be having more serious hardware problems.

I tried the things that were mentioned, and I am still having the problem. Difference is that now instead of just the full on Kernel Panic, sometimes the computer just flat out freezes and nothing responds and I am forced to turn it off.

Maybe there's something wrong with the format on the iPod. There's some sequence with the buttons you can press to go into like diagnostic mode, and try to see if something's wrong, anyone know the combination?
